Ransomware attack forces 18 Romanian hospitals to go offline

Romania's ongoing hospital ransomware attack is getting worse. Cyber security centre said last night that 21 hospitals have had computers encrypted. A chidren's hospital was the first to get hit but now it's spread. Computers in 79 other medical facilities have been unplugged

The information and transparency from the Romanian cyber security centre is incredible: "Most of the affected hospitals have backups of data with data saved relatively recently (1-2-3 days ago) except for one, whose data was saved 12 days ago."

Romania's cyber security centre has told the public how much money the hackers want (3.5BTC), which hackers they are (Phobos) and is updating a running total of affected hospitals. The hack was discovered yesterday. Unprecedented transparency - other cyber auths could take note.
